No More Games

Last night I watched The Matrix (1999), which was written and directed by the Wachowski brothers. It's a trilogy with each movie supposedly getting worse as they go on. "In the near future, a computer hacker named Neo (Keanu Reeves) discovers that all life on Earth may be nothing more than an elaborate facade created by a malevolent cyber-intelligence, for the purpose of placating us while our life essence is "farmed" to fuel the Matrix's campaign of domination in the "real" world. He joins like-minded Rebel warriors Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne) and Trinity (Carrie Ann Moss) in their struggle to overthrow the Matrix." It was nominated for 4 Oscars in 2000 for Best Editing, Effects (Sound Effects Editing and Visual Effects), and Sound. It was good, but I liked the meaning behind it much more than the action sequences.

No Thanksgiving

Tuesday night I watched School of Rock (2003). "Down and out rock star Dewey Finn (Jack Black) gets fired from his band, and he faces a mountain of debts and depression. He poses as his friend and takes a job as a 4th grade substitute teacher at an uptight private school where his attitude and hijinx have a powerful effect on his students. He also meets Zack, a 10-year-old guitar prodigy, who could help Dewey win a "battle of the bands" competition, which would solve his financial problems and put him back in the spotlight."
Today I went to the theatre with Busty and her friend Dina from Canada to see Alexander (2004). "Conquering 90% of the known world by the age of 25, Alexander the Great (Colin Farrell) led his armies through 22,000 miles of sieges and conquests in just eight years. Coming out of tiny Macedonia, Alexander led his armies against the mighty Persian Empire, drove west to Egypt, and finally made his way east to India. This film will concentrate on those eight years of battles, as well as his relationship with his boyhood friend and battle mate, Hephaestion (Jared Leto). Alexander died young, of illness, at 33. Alexander's conquests paved the way for the spread of Greek culture (facilitating the spread of Christianity centuries later), and removed many of the obstacles that might have prevented the expansion of the Roman Empire. In other words, the world we know today might never have been if not for Alexander's bloody, yet unifying, conquest." Anthony Hopkins stars as old Ptolmey, the narrator and Val Kilmer is
Philip (Alexander's step-dad) and Angelina Jolie is Olympias (Alexander's mom).
Tonight I saw Cheaper by the Dozen (2003). "The Bakers, a family of 12, move from small-town Illinois to the big city after Tom Baker (Steve Martin) gets his dream job to coach his alma mater's football team. Meanwhile, his wife (Bonnie Hunt) also gets her dream of getting her book published. While she's away promoting the book, Tom has a hard time keeping the house in order while at the same time coaching his football team, as the once happy family starts falling apart." Hilary Duff stars as one of the kids.

Rich People

On Tuesday I saw Adaptation (2002). In the 2004 Oscars it won Best Actor in a Supporting Role-Chris Cooper, and was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role - Nicolas Cage, Best Actress in a Supporting Role - Meryl Streep, Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published. "An account of screenwriter Charlie Kaufman's (Cage) attempt to adapt Susan Orlean's (Streep) non-fiction book The Orchid Thief, which is the story of John Laroche (Cooper), a plant dealer who clones rare orchids then sells them to collectors. We see the action of the book as we see Kaufman struggle to adapt it into a movie. This is presumably a somewhat true story, as Charlie Kaufman is the real life screenwriter of Adaptation."
I spent the weekend in Riverdale at Ruchie & Johno. I t was really nice. Faye slept at me Saturday night and we watched Witches of Eastwick (1987), which had a really good cast but was dumb. It was nominated for Oscars for Best Sound and Best Music. "Alex (Cher), Jane(Susan Sarandon), and Suki (Michele Pfeiffer) are three bored New England woman left to live without their husbands. They innocently conjure up a mystery man, who could satisfy all their desires. A new man moves into town - and he fits the bill perfectly. Daryl Van Horne (Jack Nicholson) is filthy rich and wild eyed, and within days the three women have all discovered almighty power within themselves. Will good triumph over evil, or will Daryl continue to have his evil way with his witches ?"
On Sunday I tried out Synergy and decided that I'd join, but not as part of GlobalFit because the gym itself will give me a better deal. $415 for 13 months, a personal trainer session and I can freeze my membership when I run outside or go away. After the gym I watched Alex and Emma (2003). "'Loosely Based on a True Love Story' is a romantic comedy starring Kate Hudson as Emma and Luke Wilson as Alex. Alex is an author whose writer's block and gambling debts have landed him in a jam. In order get loan sharks off his back, he must finish his novel in 30 days or wind up dead. To help him complete his manuscript he hires stenographer Emma. As Alex begins to dictate his tale of a romantic love triangle to the charming yet somewhat opinionated stenographer, Emma challenges his ideas at every turn. Her unsolicited yet intriguing input begins to inadvertently influence Alex and his story and soon real life begins to imitate art." It was cute, but I like Kate Hudson, so I think all her movies are cute.

Sleeping in a Dungeon

The weekend in Brooklyn was nuts. It was this huge old house with 4 guys and a pitbull living in it. There was ADD Boy, Fat Ass, Mark from Miami, and Eli started smoking when he was 12. Marc was the most normal, the rest were very shady. They were all really perverted and Marc had his hands in his pants playing with himself the whole Saturday lunch. I didn't want to sleep in the same room as Fat Ass or Eli which were my choices, so I had to sleep in the freezing attic which was like a dungeon. It wasn't a very pleasant experience.
On Saturday night I watched Something's Gotta Give which is about an older swinger with a taste for young women who falls in love with an accomplished lady more his age. Jack Nicholson stars as the old swinger and Diane Keaton is the older woman he falls for. She was nominated for an Oscar for her performance. Amanda Peet is her daughter who first dated Harry (Jack). Keanu Reeves plays the doctor who falls in love with Erica (Diane).
On Sunday night I saw Another Woman, which was written and directed by Woody Allen in 1984. Gena Rowlands, Mia Farrow and Gene Hackman are in it. It was very good. I'll paste the summary from imdb.com cuz I'm too lazy to write one. "Marion is a woman who has learned to shield herself from her emotions. She hires an apartment to work undisturbed on her new book, but by some acoustic anomaly she can hear all that is said in the next apartment in which a psychiatrist holds his office. When she hears a young woman tell that she finds it harder and harder to bear her life, Marion starts to reflect on her own life. After a series of events she comes to understand how her unemotional attitude towards the people around her affected them and herself."
I'm going to write summaries for the movies I see from now on so I can remember them.

Auto Focus

It's raining today, I hate when it rains in the city, it's gross. Busty called me and asked me to come to ADD Boy for the weekend with her. He lives in Brooklyn. Watch his fat roommate like me. Why do fat guys ALWAYS like me???? I don't think I'm fat.... Well I hope I have fun...I probably won't but I'll keep hoping. Busty is bringing me stuff so I can go straight from work. I just have to buy deodorant and underwear. I even left a toothbrush at her place, so she's bringing that.
Last night I finished watching Auto Focus. It;s the story of the life of Bob Crane who started as a radio host then went on to be an actor on TV and in the movies. He became a sex addict and two wives divorced him and he had this creepy video freak friend John Carpenter. Bob was found murdered in a motel room and the murder remains unsolved. According to the movie, John Carpenter murdered Bob after Bob told him he needs his space. It was an independent film ( I think) cuz the camera was all wobbly, but it was an interesting account of someone's life. I like learning about all different things, hence why I chose to watch it.
I feel like I have no life. #2 is acting all weird and disinterested I don't know if he really is disinterested or what' going on with him but I'm gonna lay low from now on. I won't initiate any more calling or IMing. The reason I was initiating was cuz I'm bored and I thought we could be friends again, But I don't know if he's really busy or what his story is. I really want to become friends with BenJ but I have no way of even meeting him.

Lonely

I'm feeling lonely lately. I want to make new friends but not from CL or anywhere on the internet. #2's friend BenJ moved to the UWS with some friends and I'd like to become friends with them. It doesn't hurt that everyone thinks he's hot, even though I didn't really - but I only saw him for 2 seconds. #2 is not doing anything so I could be in contact with BenJ. I asked for his sn, he didn't have it. I asked him to give BenJ mine, he's not going to even though he said he will. And #2 still has not called me after the marathon, basically he hasn't called at all. He speaks to me when I call or IM him, but never initiates. I asked him to tell me if he doesn't want to talk to me or see me but he said he does, he makes no sense.
I went shopping yesterday to Anthropologie, TJ Maxx and Filene's Basement. Now I have even more things in my room to return.
I remembered a movie I saw and forgot to post - The Piano (1993). It was really good but really sad, I cried. Holly Hunter won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Anna Paquin won an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. It's about a passionate love affair that ignites between an unhappily married mute woman and the man who bought her cherished piano ( an Indian). She has to buy back her piano one lesson at a time (lessons include him doing what he wants sexually). It was frightening when her husband chops her finger off. I don't know why the daughter brought him the package instead of bringing it straight to George- it was her fault.

NYC Marathon

Yesterday was the marathon. I went to watch it on 5th avenue and decided I want to run it next year. On the way back to my apt to change into running gear, I bumped into #2 who was supposed to call me back the night before. He gave me a hug and told me he'll call so we could hang out later , but of course never did. I went running around the reservoir 3 times (6 miles) then went home and showered. I took a nap while I was waiting for him to call and then just hung out in my room the whole rest of the day waiting for him to call. I don't get why he didn't.
I watched Unfaithful which Diane Lane was nominated for an Oscar for. It wasn't a good movie, very unrealistic. Another movie I previously watched but forgot to post was Madhouse which was too dumb and embarrassing to be funny. I'm pretty sure I've watched some others but I cant remember which ones right now. All in all, it was a very boring day, which sucks cuz it's not like I had schoolwork to do , so I would have loved to do something or just hang out with #2.
